Broil fish
method
1. brush the grid of a
cold broiler pan with oil or use a cooking spray
2. place the fish on the
broiler pan in one layer. ( cut fish).
3. brush the top of the
fish slightly with oil, butter, margarine, or a sauce. this help to keep the
fish from drying out.
4. place the broiler pan
in the broiler about 4 inches from the heat source.
5. broil until the fish
flakes easily. for timing, use the 10 minute rule below.
10 minute rule for cooking fish
* measure the thickest
part of the fish. include the stuffing if it is stuffed.
* cook the fish 10
minutes for every 1 inch of thickness.
* if the fish is more
than 1/2 inch thick, turn it over after half the cooking time.
tip - thick fillets or
steaks should be tuned over after the cooking time. after turning, brush
lightly with oil, butter margarine, or a sauce
